Devil's Claw (Harpagophytum Procumbens)
Devil's Claw : Our source is wild crafted from southern Africa. The traditional use of devil's claw by tribes in Africa involved the root being chopped and dried in the sun for 3 days to make medicinal preparations. The bitter preparation was used in folk tradition for its analgesic (numbing) and antipyretic (temperature reducing) properties. European colonists took the plant back to there countries where it was used to treat arthritis.

The modern-day main use of devil's claw is as an anti-inflammatory and for pain relief for joint diseases.

Osteoarthritis and degenerative joint is thought to benefit the most from the use of devil's claw.

Clinical studies support this and also suggest that it is as effective as some conventional anti-inflammatory drugs.

Multi-ingredient preparations for arthritic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and gout often include this medicinal herb.
White Willow Bark (Salix Alba)
The use of white willow bark dates to the time of Hippocrates (400 BC) when people were advised to chew on the bark to reduce fever and inflammation.Willow bark has been used throughout the centuries in China and Europe, and continues to be used today for the treatment of pain (particularly low back pain and osteoarthritis), headache, and inflammatory conditions, such as bursitis and tendinitis.

The bark of white willow contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). In combination with the herb's powerful anti-inflammatory plant compounds (called flavonoids), salicin is thought to be responsible for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of the herb.

Many people choose to take this" herbal aspirin" over synthetic aspirin because it is free of many side effects such as long term risks like blood thinning, or gastrointestinal problems.White willow bark seems to bring pain relief more slowly than aspirin but its effects last longer.
Frankincense (Boswellia Serrata)
Frankincense is a resin that is extracted from trees belonging to the Boswellia species. The trees grow naturally in dry areas such as West Africa, where about 75% of the boswellia trees are found. These trees are also abundant in Arabian countries, as well as India. These resins are often referred to as"pearls of the desert".

Frankincense is a well known potent anti-inflammatory.Of the more than 300 known active ingredients in frankincense extract, boswellic acids are the most well-studied. Boswellic acids interact with several different proteins that are part of inflammatory reactions, but most of all with an enzyme which is responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandin E2, these boswellic acids block this enzyme efficiently and thereby greatly inhibiting the inflammatory reaction. This is how Frankincense reduces autoimmune cartilage deterioration and can prevent cartilage loss.

Frankincense is used for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, joint pain and tendinitis because of its powerful anit-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

Turmeric (Curcuma Longa)
Turmeric has its origin most likely in India but today it is common throughout Southeast Asia, China and southern Australia but can be found in most tropical regions of the world.Turmeric, the main spice in curry, is arguably the most powerful herb on the planet at fighting and potentially reversing disease. It has so many healing properties that currently there have been 6,235 peer-reviewed articles published proving the benefits of turmeric and one of its renowned healing compounds, curcumin. This puts turmeric on top of the list as one of the most frequently mentioned medicinal herbs in all of science.

Curcumin is most known for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties. The compound has been shown to influence more than 700 genes and it can greatly inhibit both the activity and synthesis of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) and 5-lipooxygenase (5-LOX) as will as other enzymes that are implicated in inflammation.

Recent studies also found that turmeric (curcumin) naturally activates the body's opioid system which is another reason as to why it is such a good natural pain killer. This is why turmeric is effective for osteoarthritis, neck and back pain, bursitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and many more inflammatory and painful conditions.Turmeric has no side effects and it is noted to be more effective than many prescription drugs.
MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane)
MSM contains 34% sulfur by weight.Sulfur is the third most abundant mineral in the body, after calcium and phosphorus.Sulfur bonds are required for proteins to maintain their shape and these bonds determine the biological activity of the proteins. Connective tissue and cartilage contain proteins with flexible sulfur bonds, giving the structure its flexibility. With age, the flexible tissues in the body lose their elasticity resulting in stiff muscles and painful joints

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a nearly universal consequence of aging among vertebrates, thanks to gravity.Over 40 million Americans have some form of degenerative joint disease, 80% of people over 50 years old. By the seventh decade, OA is nearly universal, producing the highest rate of morbidity of any disease.

Joints affected by OA suffer from uneven loading, which leads to altered lines of weight bearing. Cartilage(made by cells called chondrocytes) begins to build up to compensate for the uneven load which forms roughening and deformities in the joint surface. The joints inflame and no longer operate smoothly, but instead the articular surfaces rub unevenly from the friction of the outgrowths of cartilage and bone called osteophytes (bone spurs). These changes cause irritation, triggering more cartilage growth and inflammation, and the cycle of degeneration is set in motion.

MSM delivers sulfur to the body in a useable form. Sulfur helps maintain the structure of connnective tissue by forming cross-linkages through disulfide bonds, i.e., sulfur strengthens the tissues that make up the joint.Sulfur is critical to good joint health! Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are the fundamental building blocks of joint cartilage, and GAG molecules are linked together in chains by disulfide bonds. As the name implies, these bonds are between two sulfur atoms. The disulfide bridges reduce conformational flexibility of GAG chains, making cartilage firm and resilient.Cartilage integrity is thus a sulfur-dependent state.

MSM also acts as a strong analgesic (pain killer) by lessening nerve impulses that transmit pain.

Magnesium Chloride
Current medical literature states that 90% of the U.S. population is magnesium deficient. Amazing Pain Formula (APF-15) has the most absorbable magnesium available.

To fully understand how and why magnesium is absolutely necessary for muscle relaxation, we also have to explain what causes a muscle contraction. For a muscle cell to contract (calcium cycle), calcium must be "pumped" into the interior of the cell from a small organelle called the sarcoplasmic reticulum, which is inside the cell and serves as a calcium depot. Calcium must also be pumped into the cell from the outside of the cell (extracellular space) by thousands of pumps that are located in the cell membrane.

These pumps are Magnisium-dependant ATP pumps. ATP(adenosine triphosphate)is the body's energy source at the cellular level, which is made from the cellular organelles called mitochondria. ATP is the only energy source that can run these pumps and ATP is dependant on magnesium. These pumps can't work without magnesium!

Once a muscle cell has contracted and done its job, all of the calcium must be removed from the inside of the cell. Now, the calcium must be pumped back inside the storage depot (sarcoplasmic reticulum), which is inside the cell, and the pumps that are located in the cell membrane must also pump calcium out of the cell and back to the extracellular space. The same pumps are used to pump the calcium into and out of the cell, they pump the calcium into the cell for a muscle contraction, and out of the cell for "relaxation". ATP and magnesium are both required for these pumps to work.

ATP, the body's only source of energy is made in the intracellular organelles called the mitochondria. For ATP to be produced, glucose must be" processed" by the Glycolytic Pathway, the Kreb's Cycle, and finally, the Electron Transport Cycle. The final step in the production of ATP requires magnesium.
Therefore, magnesium is not only required by ATP to run these cellular pumps but,it is also required to make the energy source ATP itself.

Only in the presence of adequate magnesium can calcium be removed from the muscle cell, which allows for the cell membrane to achieve a decreased electrical voltage thereby relaxing the muscle cell.
Magnesium also decreases pain. Magnesium, chemically, is just close enough to calcium that it can occupy the same receptors that serve as a"switch" on the surface of neurons that sense pain. When a receptor site called an NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) is activated by calcium, electrical charges flood into the neuron and allow it to send a pain signal to the brain. When these same NMDA receptor sites are occupied by magnesium the pain nerve is "switched" off. Magnesium turns off the transmission of pain.

So, not only does Amazing Muscle Relaxer significantly decrease muscle tension and spasms but, it also helps to decrease the associated pain.
